Citizen of the Month

Look who's been an upstanding citizen this past month. We got to go to the assembly today for Emma to receive her award. I thought it would be this great surprise, but Emma told us she knew about it before hand. Apparently her friend was doing a little snooping and saw their teacher signing the awards. So they both knew they were getting an award. So much for a surprise! I am excited at the good little girl that Emma is growing up to be.

Not a junkie trunk...anymore

This is what we worked on today...along with scraping the paint off of my lovely new table. It's for the best. My stain job was bad. It will look so much better when it matches the TV stand.

My mom had this little trunk at her house and the grandkids were using it, but not loving it. She's had it ever since I was little, and as you can see it's been beat up. I took one look at that thing and saw the potential. I knew I could make it over and use it to decorate my home. Today we spray painted it. Now I need to rough it up a little bit and try to get the edges and latches to stand out. It was too hard to try and tape it off so we just painted it one color to begin with. It's a nice burnished brown color that matches the handles on the TV stand. And I want to cover the inside somehow. I'm excited. I just don't want my mom to want it back after I'm done.

Good Buds

Benjamin and his cousin Keaton have become really good buddies. It's so fun to go to my mom's because Benjamin now asks, "Kea-ton, Mommy Kea-ton?" They were more than happy to let me take some pictures of them together. Keaton's little brother Rylan is in the middle.

Walk through a piece of paper

Aunt Shelly did a little object lesson with my kids tonight after the Women's Conference. She asked the kids if they thought it was possible for her to cut a hole in a piece of paper and walk through. They weren't sure. She cut the first piece and, of course, you can't walk through that hole.

Emma wouldn't take a decent shot. Silly!

Then as she cut the second piece, she talked about being able to do things that seem impossible with the help of the Spirit and the Lord. She then unfolded the second piece of paper and it was quite big enough to walk through. My kids loved it!

family FUN

My Family Fun magazine came in the mail today, but did I get to read it first? No. Who got to read it first you might ask. My little crafty monster Emma. I told her that we wouldn't be doing any of the wonderful projects today because I was working on some other things. Well, we ended up working on her craft. She was just so excited and wanted to make it work. An hour later, I realized that we were indeed working on her project. She sees all of my stuff out and can't help but want to do a craft too.

P.S. In order to start the craft season off right...I cleaned the garage and Jason has his parking spot back. ;)

Rainy Days

I love rainy days. The kids loved playing in the rain when Emma got home from school as well. They made a great big, wonderful mess in the dirt. Jason helped me cross some things off my list. I was so grateful he was willing to run errands and play handy man today.

It's that time again....YES!

Isn't this little shelf sitter so cute?! It turned out just the way I wanted it to. It's just a little 12x2 and I love it: the saying, the little flower border, the font, the creamy goodness. Cute! Now I think I need to go buy a shelf so I can display this little block. Hahahaha! No just kidding. I'll fit it in somewhere.

Fall craft nights are coming up....and I am sooooo excited let me tell you! Even though I have moved, I still get to help with my old ward's Craft the Night Away. Plus I get to do a little something in my new ward. And, on top of all this, we're going back to Ellensburg to take on the Ware Fair again. I know I can get pretty stressed during craft season, but I do love it. It's simply in my blood!

Here's my workspace-this is the time of year where crafts seep their way back into every room in the house. Jason already can't park in the garage because signs are coming out and filling his parking spot. It's gong to be a long four months...for Jason. Hahaha!

Halloween Banner

So Jason has a cousin who made a Halloween covering for her mantle. It looked so cute that I was inspired to do something for mine. (Thanks for the inspiration Tiffany!) And I've seen so many cute holiday banners made with paper. So here's mine.
