This Week...
...Paul made a gallon man in school. What a cute way to remember the correlation between cups, pints, quarts, and gallons. It's a little big to keep for very long, but a picture captures the art forever.
...we took the kids to see Inside Out. This was such a great movie about feelings. I thought it was so cute. We need the happy and the sad.
...we went to Grandma Zirker's again. These puppies are so cute. The kids love playing with them.
I also put the kids to work moving bark around the yard.

...I pass on some words of encouragement. Kid President says: "Keep Going!" Sometimes...this is just what we need to hear.
...we went on the best ride ever! Forget Silverwood! The car wash wins hands down.
...we had a discussion on Entertainment and Media standards. We used the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet for Family Home Evening. We had a discussion on "bad" words in movies and why it's important to turn it off or not even turn it on. Thank you For the Strength of YOUth pamphlet.
...we had a hot dog roast for Cub Scouts. We had our Cubs and a lot of siblings. :) The requirement was for them to make their own meal and have a camp fire type show. We discussed appropriate gear for a camping trip, roasted and ate hot dogs and then learned a new skit. (Peyton Greenhalgh, Linkon Mackay, lainey, Den Leader Marie Mackay, Jaxon Mackay, Saul Jimenez, Emma, Kyson Mackay.
Once scouts was over, we busted out the marshmallows. Yee-haw!
...Jason and I saw Aubrie Hull at Costa Vida when we were there on a lunch date. We'd been out looking at homes/lots (Yes, it's time for us to move) and met up with my sisters for lunch. In walked Aubrie on a lunch run for We Ice. Naturally we had to get a picture and show some signs, even though I don't quite know what I'm inventing. We meet Aubrie all over town now that we've met her and her family. We like to razz her, a lot!
...remember to take time to smell the flowers. They're gone before you know it. Enjoy them while you can.
...my nephew Jordan and his wife Jessica stopped by for a visit. Ok, they really just wanted to pick up the vinyl I had ready for them them. But they did visit a bit too. Jessica is really great. The two seem to be very well matched.
...we had an oops moment at church. Emma rested her feet on the hymn book holder and it ripped right out of the bench. Oops! It may have had something to do with Lianey hanging on it, maybe. I tell you. They're all a bunch of monkeys!
Claire was showing me some love in the parking lot after church. Stylin'!
...we found a couple of faces in the kitchen. My sister, Shelly, finds faces everywhere. It's really rubbing off on us. Here's one from the cereal bowl.
Claire found these twin faces at the back of the toaster.
And I found these rubber bands dropped in a face on the floor. As far as I know, this wasn't a set up.
This Week...
...I went hiking with Stephanie and Emily Swanberg (from 3rd Ward). Stephanie and I are in charge of the 4th year hike for Girl's Camp this year. This is the hike they've used before and we wanted to go and scout it out. It's the Oregon Butte Trail in the Umatilla National Forest. It was a great trail and provided some great time to talk and get to know each other.
We had fresh water on our hike. This is fresh spring water coming out of this hose. Right from the mountain to our mouth! We put our water bottles right under the hose and we were in drinking heaven. It was so clean and fresh. It was even cold! It was like it came right out of the fridge!
It was such a great view from on top of the ridge.

...we played Charades for Family Home Evening. Huddle time! They had to confer in the corner to decide details of a group charade.
...we went to Silverwood! This year four out of the seven of us got in free. Thank you school reading program. We took the middle seat out before we left to create an area where we could sit and eat. We brought a cooler with lunch foods so we could eat before we went in to the park. Perfect set up. We stopped to get some shoes for Benjamin. While Jason took him in to the store, the rest of us pulled the food out to get a head start. Yum!
Here we go!
Boulder Beach was first! Lainey loved the kid area. It was quite breezy so we only lasted a little while.
We moved on to the lazy river, a favorite with everyone.
These two loved the big water slides and the wave pool.
Bathroom break and on to the rides.

Log ride-I think Benjamin was wishing that he hadn't gone on this one.
We did a lot of the kid rides for Lainey. She was in heaven.
Claire and I saw Garfield. Yay!
They got me on the frog hopper with Lainey. Not my favorite.
Then Lainey and I went back to Garfield. She gave him a great big hug.
Jason didn't want to get his tennis shoes all soggy on the Thunder Canyon ride, so I let him borrow my sandals. What a great wife I am because I'm the one that wore the soggy sandals afterwards.
Claire and Ben hung out with me and ate popcorn while the others were on the ride.
They are soaked!
Corkscrew-Only Jason, Paul, and Emma went on this one.
We were wiped out on the way home. They played hard. Until next year Silverwood.
...we went and surprised the Hull's with a birthday cake. No, it wasn't anyone's birthday in particular. We just knew they needed a cake. Emma decorated the cake. We actually lit the candles and sang them happy birthday at the door. Tate was the lucky one to blow the candles out. Mallory was a little camera shy.
...we learned pocket knife safety and made carvings for Cub Scouts. Which then prompted a lot more carving from my kids afterwards. We've gone through a lot of soap. Yes, pocket knives were a big hit with all of my kids.
...the boys have been playing a lot of Pokemon lately. Their stacks of cards have multiplied. I'm not even sure how they keep all the rules and points straight. But they do, and they have fun...when they're not getting mad. Haha!
...you get a few day-in-the-life-of-us pictures. not sure who took them, but they tell a little story. Jason just got back from a run. He's sitting in his favorite spot, at the computer, and talking on his favorite device. Lainey is playing in the playroom while watching a movie, acting like she runs the place. Oh wait, doesn't she...
