Class of 2022

Today was Emma's Kindergarten graduation.

Our conversation last night -
Emma: Mom, can you buy me something [for graduation].
Mom: No.
Emma: Aawww! Why not?
Mom: Because it's just Kindergarten dear.

We've been eating a lot of these lately.

baby doll lainey

It was time to feed Lainey and she was getting restless. I came around the corner from the kitchen with a bottle to find Claire holding Lainey. I was so surprised to see the baby, who had been in her cradle, now in little not-quite-three-year-old Claire's arms. I couldn't believe that Claire would even think to pick Lainey up, let alone be able to. Later that same day she picked Lainey up out of her bouncy seat and tried carrying her around.

I guess Claire has a little bit of her Uncle Kelvin in her. My Mother-in-Law tells of how he used to get Jason and his twin, Todd, out of the crib when they were babies. He would have been five, I think, at the time. Sometimes he would get them right after they were put down for their nap, if I remember right. What a great helper, but interrupted nap time is no fun.

Here I captured Claire showing us just how easily she picked up baby doll Lainey the other day. I think we'll be moving the cradle into our room. Crazy cat Claire!

a little short

I got my hair cut. It's a little short and I'm still getting used to it. I miss not being able to pull it back into a pony tail. But it's probably a good thing that I can't. Pony tails generally mean that I'm in dire need of a hair cut. It is definitely a change.

This is me telling Jason I've had enough of his photo shoot. Give him permission to update the blog for a couple of days and he takes all sorts of creative license.

Pea Picking

We went pea picking today. I love fresh peas and there's a field right across the street from my parent's house. Emma and Paul were so excited to go. Paul kept checking in with me, "Is it time to go pea picking yet?" We gave the cousins their own bag and we walked down the lane to the field. They set to work right away and had a blast. I even picked some for myself.

Then they sat around and shelled all of their peas once we got back to the house.

Cool whip

Who doesn't love Cool whip, especially by the spoon fulls right out of the tub?! I remember eating the stuff like ice cream when I was younger.

I caught Benjamin running to hide with the tub of cool whip so he could eat to his heart's content, away from mom. So we shared a bite or two.

boots

Claire actually went clattering around the house in these paint cans. "Boots," she said.

Little Cleaners

This is their new favorite thing to do-wash the door. The best is when they take the bucket of water and rags out to wash the outside of the door. It keeps them busy for quite a while. :)

Sttttttretttttttch!

I love it when babies stretch. They are so cute... and it just looks like it feels so good. Look at that second face. So funny!

Things I missed...

being able to do during pregnancy.

grip a pen
My hands got so swollen and hurt so bad that I could not close them or clench them into a fist. Writing anything was painful. I'm happy to report that they aren't that bad anymore - just an annoying tingle that I hope continues to fade.

wear tennis shoes
My feet started to swell and that was the end of these babies. I wore sandals the duration of my pregnancy. Normally my feet get claustrophobic in socks and shoes, but it has been pure heaven to put these on and wear them around.

sleep in my bed/lay on my back
I love to sleep on my back. I don't get to do that during pregnancy because my back pain is so great. I breath a little sigh of contentment when ever I lie down now because I can lay flat on my back. ~AAAHHH~

sit criss cross applesauce
Once again, because of back pain and pelvic pain/pressure I don't get to do this much when pregnant. It has been so nice to sit like this as I change Lainey...or just whenever I want to.

wear my wedding ring
The last month or so, when my fingers started to get bad, I couldn't wear my ring. I tucked it away in a safe place and always wondered if people thought I wasn't married wherever I went. Now I can wear my love band again.
